Arty Night Edition 2 Brings Poetry, Storytelling and Good Vibes to Inyuguti Art Hub
Inyuguti Art Hub was full of energy on June 28, 2026, as Writers Space Africa–Rwanda Chapter (WSA-R) held the second edition of Arty Night, an event that brings the writers, poets, and art lovers together for one big night.
The program had a bit of everything: a book exhibition, an open mic, storytelling, and a poetry night that kept the crowd hooked from start to finish. It wasn’t just a show; it felt like a community catching up and celebrating creativity together.
Worth the wait
The first Arty Night happened back in 2022, so this second edition had been a long time coming. WSA-R Country Coordinator Patrick Nzabonimpa said as much in his opening remarks.
“We are happy to host Arty Night Edition 2. We’ve been waiting to host it for a long time since our first edition in 2022,” he said. “It’s just the beginning, and we hope to host more events as our community grows.”
The voices on stage
The night belonged to the poets and storytellers. Muringa, Kaballah, Nyili Africa Academy’s Nyillimitozo Uwimpuhwe and Nyiliimenya Senzinkayo, Gisele Gatera, Lise Nova, Olabell, Parfait Nzeyimana, Sabine Berwa, JDC Kimirantare, and Dudepoet all took turns on the mic, each bringing their own flavour to the evening.
One of the highlights was a Rwandan folklore performance from a WSA-Rwanda team made up of Lise Nova Berwadushime, Muctar Inkindi, Mpinganzima ya Rwema, Parfait Nzeyimana, and Roger Manzi. It was a nice touch: old stories told in a fresh way, right alongside all the contemporary spoken word.
More than just a show
People also got to browse books at the exhibition, and the open mic gave anyone in the room the chance to grab the mic and share something of their own.
WSA-R made sure to thank everyone who showed up and made it happen: the performers, hosts (Tekla Shimwa Habumuranga and Vincent Sugira), volunteers, and the crowd that cheered them all on.
“To everyone who attended, performed, hosted, volunteered, and cheered from the audience, thank you for making this night unforgettable,” said Nzabonimpa. “Here’s to many more nights like this.”
And from the sound of it, this won’t be the last one. WSA-R plans to host more events as the community keeps growing.
